5.37pm on Sunday 9th April 2017 is a day that will long remain in my memory as one of the worst days of my life. That was the time and date I had to call 999 and tell them that my block of flats was on fire. In a very short time we had been joined by the Police and 8 Fire Engines who fought for 5 hours to bring the fire under control. The fire was in the cavity space between the walls and spread through the whole block and next door. The fireman had to remove the walls in my flat to get to the fire, as you can see in the pictures below the damage was extensive and I can only praise the fireman for their quick thinking. I was able to get myself, my daughter and warn everyone in the block to get out of the flats and we all know how lucky we all are that no one was hurt.
I would like to thank all the police, fireman and fire investigation officers and forest heath and kings forest for their help, compassion and understanding (we have all been asking lots of questions) in getting us answers, rehousing us and allowing us to (safely) enter and remove essentials etc. I would also like to thank everyone who has offered assistance and help, money and replacements I really cannot thank you enough. Now starts the process of rebuilding our lives and homes and making a positive step in the right direction.
