Steps to the Perfect Wedding Speeches
by Wayne Goodman

Picture
A lot of people have a real fear of public speaking, however this does not need to be the case, if you just plan and prepare in a proper manner.

  • Spend some real time working on your speech, do not leave it until the last minute.
Fail to prepare and prepare to fail.
  • Keep a notebook of the main points you want to make, once you have a basic structure you can start putting it into an order for the speech.
  • Some people like to write out the whole speech whilst others just use bullet points.  If you choose to write bullet points, make sure you add notes so you do not forget (under pressure) when you are delivering the speech what you meant to say.
  • Avoid innuendo.
  • Practice the whole speech over and over.  Do it in front of a mirror, or video record it, this will enable you to spot and remember any mistakes etc.
  • Do not forget to breathe.  Leave gaps in your speech to stop and take a breath.  A good method is to stop and take a sip of water, this gives you a couple of seconds to pause and relax.
  • Try not to speak too quickly.
  • If they have a microphone, use it, this will keep your voice at a constant level and means everyone will be able to hear you.
  • Stick to your speech and keep to the points it is easy to go off track so stick to the notes.
  • If you receive applause or laughter, take a pause. Don’t speak over your audience's reactions. Appreciate their appreciation!
  • Speak from the heart. Don’t worry about what people will think if you really show your feelings. Today is about love so don’t be afraid to show it.
Picture
Who normally gives the speeches?

Speeches are normally given by:
The Father Of The Bride
Understandably, this is a very emotional moment for the bride's Dad.

The Groom
In his speech, the Groom would normally thank:
  • His wife’s father for the toast and the welcome into the family.
  • All the friends and family for coming, especially those that have travelled long distances.
  • Anyone who has been a significant help in the planning of the day (especially if they have made a large financial contribution – for example the bride’s parents).
  • The groom's parents for love and support.
  • His best man for being the best!
  • The bride for all the reasons he loves her.
  • Bridesmaids, Flower Girls, Page Boys and Ushers.
  • A toast to “The Bridesmaids” at the end of the speech.

The Best Man
This is often the one that everyone is waiting for! Traditionally funny, warm and revealing!
  • Thank the Groom for his toast to the Bridesmaids and his kind words.
  • If there are any messages from family that could not make it or are abroad etc, these can be read out.
  • The Best Man can mention the Groom's strengths (and weaknesses!).
  • Funny stories. Perhaps anecdotes about growing up together or any particularly fond memories.
  • Mention the bride. How they got together and perhaps how she has had a positive effect on the Groom.
  • A toast to “The Bride & Bridegroom” at the end of the speech

Gifts
Often the Groom will present gifts to the Bridesmaids, Pageboys, Ushers and the Best Man during his Speech. When thanking parents, flowers may be presented to the Mums.

Do not Book Anything Until You Have Read This!
by Wayne Goodman

Definition of value

“The regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.”
In 30 years of performing in the wedding industry, there is one mistake I see people making over and over again.

What is it?

Booking things on price rather than value.

Most people do not think about the difference between cost and value or why booking on the basis of cost is a bad idea.

Let’s look at a scenario,

Magician A has sent you a quote for your wedding to perform for 2 hours and he will charge £200.

Magician B has sent you a quote for £650. Based on this information, would you be happy to make a decision on which magician to go for?

I hope not.

Booking a magician, cakemaker, photographer etc is a big decision, you are putting your trust into this person to deliver a service on the most important and special day of your life.

What does it cost to book the magician, well you have two options, one cheaper and one more expensive but what do they do for their fee.

Magician A will tell you they will turn up and do some tricks and keep everyone entertained for a couple of hours.

Magician B will tell you that they deliver an experience for your guests that will make your wedding a truly memorable occasion.  They will take care of entertaining the guests, breaking the ice and raising the atmosphere for the day, so you can relax and enjoy your day and see your guests having a great time.  This will mean that when you do appear at the reception, they will be excited, engaged and involved with the day.

Forget the cost, look at the value of the service you are expecting.

I get a lot of feedback from my brides and grooms, who even 5 or 10 years after their wedding tell me that their friends and family still talk about me, I always tell them to ask any of your guests in 5, 10, 20 years time (or even that evening) what the centre pieces on the tables looked like? Do they remember? Now ask what they remember about the magician. You will see what life long memories this can create.

You also don’t want people’s memories to be about the guy that turned up late, sent along another magician in his place, was rude, inappropriate or just boring. All of these things can be avoided by going with an experienced professional.

Remember…“Price is what you pay – Value is what you receive.”

Questions you need to ask.
  • Are they a member of a recognised organisation such as the magic circle?
  • Are they happy to meet up for a consultation and go through options for your day?
(beware of providers who say there is no need for this)
  • Have they given you peace of mind by providing you with a contract, public liability certificate and taking a deposit.
  • Is their communication good or do you just receive a single word text message?
  • What experience have they got?

All of these things can be indicators of professionalism.

I most definitely think that entertainment of all kinds is the one thing that people underestimate the value of at a wedding. It really can make or break the overall impact of the day. So, it’s worth keeping in mind that the budget spent on your entertainment is an investment, NOT an expense.

After reading this, do you still want to make your first question

“How Much To Do My Wedding?”

Wedding Planning

An Essential Guide!
by Wayne Goodman

Picture
Wedding planning can be daunting and full of stress, but it can also be quite enjoyable as you see things come together!

Think about what you want for your wedding, and how you want it all to look, but make sure you ask the wedding suppliers as many questions and ask for suggestions too, they may just spark some inspiration or idea you may not have considered.

Wedding Venue.
There are as many types of venues as there are weddings, you could choose a stately home or a hall, a barn or even a tipi.

Here are a couple of wedding venues I work at a lot.
Picture
Lanwades Hall.
Swynford Manor.
The Riverside Hotel.
Hockwold Hall.
The White Hart, Gt Yeldham.
Photographer/Videographer
The wedding photographer is one of the most important wedding people on the big day.

They will catch all the special moments and help to create a fantastic reminder of your special day.

You need to make sure your wedding photographer is someone you are comfortable with, who knows exactly what you want and can not only adapt but will capture the real feel of the day.

GOOD photographers can be a big expense but are completely worth it!

Here are just some of the amazing photographers I get to work with but there are a lot more. Take your time and talk to them, they are the experts!

Entertainment
Do not make the mistake that most couples make, which is to leave booking the entertainment till the last minute.

Welcome and welcome back.

This is my first blogpost in a while and whilst I have a lot of ground to cover, I will try and keep it quite brief, not much hope of that happening but here goes.

So first things first.  Hooray the world has returned to some level of normality and shows are filling up the diary quick and fast.

With the reopening of the world, I am pleased to announce a couple of major changes to the way I am working and presenting myself.

  1. A new website.
The website has (as you will have hopefully seen) had a major reshaping and a whole new look.
I think this gives the site a more professional look, whilst still keeping the friendly and comfortable feel of what I do and who I am.

Lots of new pictures, videos and pages are now live as well as a whole heap of new content in the upcoming days, weeks and months. Including a regular blog from yours truly.

  1. New services.
As well as offering all the services I have always done, from kids shows to weddings, corporate events to family BBQ’s I am now also offering TWO major new types of service to the world.

The first one, I have been doing for years but never really had a page or info about which is the TEAMBUILDING for companies, schools, groups and organisations.  Check out the team building page under shows and have a look at what I do and can offer.

The second one, which I am so excited to announce, is I am now the MAGICAL WEDDING EMCEE, not only am I offering all my normal magic packages but also the wedding emcee hosting packages.

This is an exciting new addition to what I already offer, and means anyone getting married has the opportunity to have me as their host for the day, taking care of all the jobs your ushers wont, and being on hand to not only create some amazing magic but also provide you with a FRIENDLY and professional host who will really make the day as magical and special as you ever dreamed it would be.

Check out my weddings section for more info and to view my digital brochure.

So that's it for this blog, I will be back very soon with more and more and more.

Have a great day and thanks for reading and see you on the next one.

Guess who's Back? Back Again ...

So it has been a while since I blogged but now it feels about right to get back to the mindset of regular blog posts.

As we head towards the tail end of the lockdown, hopefully the last lockdown, we need to start assessing the upcoming wedding season and also 2022 and 2023, lots of my clients are moving their dates over to the next two years and newer clients are now avoiding summer 21 completely.

Daytime entertainment and personal entertainment is as important as ever, and yet so easily overlooked, so here are 5 amazing reasons why you should (at least) chat to Wayne about what he can do for your special day and how a magician is a perfect addition.
  • Breaks the ice.
Every wedding has guests who do not know many or any other people, Wayne involves everyone in his performances and brings people together so when he leaves the group, everyone is animated and discussing the impossibility of what they have just seen.
  • Memories are there to be made.
Wayne does not just perform some card tricks or coin tricks, he creates moments that become memories.  Your guests will be talking about your wedding and Wayne for years after the day.
  • Value for money.
You cannot express the value on hearing your guests laughing, cheering and wowing as Wayne works his magic.  Wayne has received so many emails, letters and reviews expressing how valuable he was, and how much the success of the day was down to his participation.
  • Calm down and watch Wayne.
Organising any event can be stressful, but weddings are stress X 100.  Booking Wayne takes so much pressure off your shoulders and allows you to enjoy the party without worrying about your guests, they are in safe hands.
  • Atmosphere.
Through the reception and up to the speeches, or during the evening part of the wedding, Wayne will create an amazing atmosphere for all your guests.

So there you go, just a quick post to start the wheels turning again, oh and to sign off here is a quick vid too

enjoy .....

Wayne

As we approach the end of the summer, I once again find myself preparing for the upcoming wedding fayres.

Picture
Picture

Wayne's upcoming wedding fayres
Picture
One of my favorite fayres is the Newmarket Wedding Show which takes place twice a year at the famous Newmarket Racecourse.
Picture
Another great wedding show is at Quy Mill just outside Cambridge.

This is not only a great show but an amazing venue too with facilities for every kind of wedding.

Quy MIll Wedding Show

Swynford manor is another favorite venue, and is perfectly placed in Six Mile Bottom just outside Newmarket.
Picture
A new venue in the area is the Missing Sock, Its quirky and different and stands out as a great venue.
Picture
So what do all these venues have in common, well for a starters they are all amazing venues, great for weddings and events and all have amazing teams of staff who work so well together.
Picture
The other thing they all have in common is they are all in my prefered suppliers list and if you have your wedding there, then you can book my services for a prefered fee.

The last one for this blog post is the beautiful and beyond amazing Chippenham Park.

Wedding Supplier review: The Mighy Macca

28/3/2018

I grew up in a house with no music, my father was not a fan of music for personal reasons and as a child I was not allowed to listen to it.  My oldest brother has a sincere love of bands like Pink Floyd and Guns and Roses but it was not until started working on ships that I actually got to listen, and really enjoy music.
Picture
Over my time overseas I listened to and fell in love with many music styles and artistes and I think now, I have a varied and healthy taste in music.

Just for you here is one of my all time favorite songs.
In 1995 I worked on North Sea Ferries and spent most of the 6 months at sea with one band, the Louis Mckoy Band.  Their band leader Paul is still a great mate and yes that is me playing bass in the middle - (no I can not play bass).

This is Paul and I on a rare day out in Zeebrugge
Picture
Over the last decade I have had the pleasure of working with some amazing bands but one that stands head and shoulders above the rest is the one and only Mighty Macca.
The Mighty Macca is a majority family based band who present good guitar music from the 60's to the present day and work around the East Anglian area, in bars, venues, functions and weddings and it only takes a few minutes of watching them to know why they are one of the busiest and most popular bands in the area.
Picture
From left to right:
Colin - Colin P - Carl - Paul and Ed.
Colin on the left is Dad to Carl and Paul and his love of music and passion for playing shines through the whole band and in the functions they play.

The play list is extensive and for a better idea and to listen to some of the music you can visit the webpage here.
Macca are always my first recommendation when people ask me for suggestions for music at their wedding.
Picture
Macca will make your special day a memorable day, appealing to the youngest and oldest guest, there will be something for everyone. From setting up the rig, sound and lighting to the last dance of the evening, Macca can pre-arrange everything including set timings, optional live and pre-recorded background music, and even a wireless microphone for your speeches!! As soon as the formalities are over, the show begins and you can enjoy your first dance as Mr and Mrs! Macca will take care of the rest!!
Picture
Thanks for reading this blog post and please like and share and please feel free to check out my other favorite wedding suppliers HERE.
Also check out these amazing reviews and testimonials all about yours truly by clicking right HERE.

Until next time remember to keep the magic alive and spread the love.

Wedding Supplier review: Little Button Nose wedding stationary

21/3/2018

Some wedding suppliers make beautiful cakes, some take the most breathtaking photo's and some, like me, rock up on the day and make people laugh and wow and scream with joy and excitement.
Picture
Then there are people like Julie who create real magic.

Julie runs a small boutique company called "Little Button Nose" that specialises in elegant and beautiful wedding stationary, and when I say beautiful, it really does not do it justice.

I have worked with many couples who have used Julie for their wedding, and as I work the tables I hear the comments about how beautiful everything looks.

I have known Julie for a couple of years now and I am always amazed by her stands at wedding fayres and shows.  Everything is stunning, its handmade or printed in house, which means she really does offer a bespoke service to suit your individual requirements.
Weddings are very personal and when you really do require someone who knows the importance of the personal touch.

All your stationery add to the decor and theme of your day, and you want to make sure they are right for you.
Picture
Julie offers an extensive package that you build and add to as you need, these include  invitations, evening invitations, rsvp cards, order of service, place cards, table name cards, thank you cards, menus, table plans and beautiful
handmade co-ordinating gift bags & boxes for favours or wedding gifts.

Picture
The true testament to Julies work comes though, when you see the number of people at the tables who slip their name tags, or table numbers into their bags to take home.  Julie does not just create a simple piece to look at and then forget, she creates actual works of art that your guests will want to take home and show off to their friends etc.
Picture
One of the reasons I love writing my blog is because I get to write about some of the best and nicest people I know, and Julie really is a lovely person.

To sit and chat to Julie for five minutes you see her passion for what she does, and her ultimate desire for you to have the best for your wedding day.
Picture
Picture
Picture
Being a wedding supplier is not an easy job, you have to push past 100% effort, you have to be the best of the best and you only get one chance to make it the best it can possibly be ....

Well Julie makes that look easy.

It is very easy to see why Little Button Nose is on the prefered suppliers list
of the best wedding venues across the whole region and why
so many brides and grooms and event organisers trust her
to help to create the best for their special days.
So if you are looking for something special, something to add to your wedding day or event, an invite to make people realise what a great day it will be or a thank you card that someone will want to keep forever, then contact Julie either
through her website Little button nose or via her facebook page LBN and see what she can do for you.
Thanks for reading this blog post and please like and share  and I will love you more than all times I have ever told a joke and please feel free to check out my other favorite wedding suppliers HERE.

Booking a Magician ... What you need to know

5/3/2018

What you should know about booking a wedding magician.

The difference between an amateur and a professional?

Most people know someone who can do a few tricks, but a wedding has specific formalities and you need someone who is experienced in the business to follow the correct protocols.

The amateur magician will charge less than a professional but with this comes dangers that you may not think about, an amateur magician will almost definitely not have public liability insurance.  I would not dream of working without PLI even though in 30 years I have never had to use it.

Picture
People always worry about paying too much for anything, yet do not worry about paying too little. If you are redoing your kitchen in your house and you get 5 quotes for similar amounts and one for less than a quarter of the others, you would have to question why it is so cheap compared to the other builders.  It is no different in the wedding industry.

The amateur will offer you a fee, but if another customer offers them more, they will cancel or worse, just not turn up.  Every week I get calls and emails from Brides and Grooms in a panic because the have been let down and need someone to take the place.
I wish I could say I am able to assist them all, but unfortunately sometimes it is just not possible.  Why take the risk on such a special day.  Here are 5 vital questions to ask when booking your wedding magician:
  • How many weddings have you performed at?
  • Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
  • Do you confirm the booking with a written confirmation?
  • Do I need to pay a deposit?
  • Is the agreed fee the total amount?
How many weddings have you performed at?
Experience at working at weddings is essential, You need to know you have booked someone who is good at what they do and can get on with their job without you having to worry about them.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
This is essential, some wedding venues will insist the supplier forward PLI Certificates to them before allowing them to work on the premises.  If a supplier replies NO, you should question why they do not have it.
Do you confirm the booking with a written confirmation?
This covers both you and the provider with written confirmation of all agreed aspects of the job intended.  For a magician it should cover everything from agreed fee to starting and ending times, dress codes and type of show booked.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Paying a deposit adds weight to the confirmation, I do not mark any booking as confirmed until the deposit is paid.
Picture
Picture
Is the agreed fee the total amount?
I hear so many horror stories from people who have booked a wedding supplier, not only magicians, who quote a fee then when the contract arrives has extras added on, which dramatically changes the full amount.
I once saw the breakdown listed like this:
Picture
The client had been quoted £450 for the wedding but had an extra £112.50 which the magician had not mentioned in the booking at all, including a random booking fee, which I am pleased to say I have never heard being used before this or after.  The client was deeply unhappy and so did not book this magician.

I am sure though there are plenty of people who do agree and end up paying more than they were quoted.
Picture
What kind of performer are you booking?
Magicians come in all shapes and sizes and you want to make sure the magician you book is the right one for your wedding.  The best way to get this information is to meet the magician face to face and trust your instincts.
If the magician starts speaking negatively about other magicians, service providers or customers, you have to ask if this the kind of person you want mixing with your guests at your wedding.
Another good method is to follow a simple checklist:
  • Does the magician offer a consultation meeting?
  • Does the magician have a website or just a facebook page?
  • Does the magician have any videos or photos of them working at events?
  • Does the magician have references or reviews you can read or look at?
  • What kind of questions does the magician ask, if any?
  • Do you feel excited or do you have questions or concerns about booking this magician for your wedding?
Picture
If you have any questions or concerns about your service provider, I would suggest you look for another.  I get so many emails and letters from customers who felt so comfortable with booking me, excited about what I will bring to their wedding and overjoyed I was available.
Websites and photos give you an insight into who you are booking, photos and videos of mates in a pub do not stand up against photos or videos at a wedding or event.  A facebook page is great to get reviews and comments from people but a website should be a window into the service provider you are booking.

Picture
At the time of writing I have one bride who is considering changing her wedding day to the following week because I was unavailable for her wedding date, whilst this is humbling to me, it also shows she has amazing confidence in what I do and what I bring to the table.

A wedding is a special event and you want to make sure your magician will enhance the day and contribute to the atmosphere, someone who will compliment your day and make sure it is unforgettable.
Memberships & Credentials?
Membership to any industry organisation means you have someone who has made a commitment to their services.  Being a member of the Magic Circle or Equity shows a level of professionalism and commitment to providing a good quality product.

Magic Circle:
Most people have heard of the Magic Circle, most people see this as an industry standard, and whilst being a member does carry a certain prestige, it is a magic club and not much different to many others around the country.
The Magic Circle has 3 levels of membership:
Member of the Magic Circle
Associate of Inner Magic Circle
Member of the Inner Magic Circle
Picture
Membership is not that easy to attain and requires an audition and requires members to follow a strict set of guidelines.

Equity:
Equity is the entertainments union and again has a set of regulations and rules that need to be observed before membership is granted.  Being a member makes a positive statement about your commitment to your vocation and your place in the industry. an Equity card is a universally recognised symbol of your status as a professional.

Membership to any organisation does not guarantee quality but it does provide you with someone you can talk to regarding any concerns etc.

What other services does the magician offer?
Most magicians work in one specific area, they may do close up magic around tables and in a reception environment, they may do children’s shows or they might do a stage or illusion style show.

Some magicians are adept at working more than one style and so they may offer a number of different performance packages.

One for weddings that I offer is close up magic for the reception and wedding breakfast and a children’s performance whilst the speeches are happening.

Whatever your magician is supplying make sure you have it all listed and detailed in a confirmation so that there is no confusion on the day, but also do not get pressured into accepting any “extras” that you do not need or want.  A good supplier will advise and give options, if they are pushing too hard, or trying the hard sell, you have to ask why?  I truly believe what I offer sells itself.  Listen to the options and make a decision that compliments your day and your wedding.
Picture
Picture
The most important question?
So you have made the decision to book, now what is the most important question to ask the supplier.
I truly believe it has to be:
Why should I book you?
Listen to their answer, will it be their dynamic personality that will light up the room, their amazing repertoire of magic that will leave your guests spellbound, their professionalism that has kept their diarys full year upon year. I hope its all of that and more.

I am proud of the service I offer and hate it when I hear stories of people being let down or having substandard entertainment.

Wedding Supplier review: Juan J Muino Wedding Photographer

27/2/2018

Everytime I post on here, well most of the time, I mention how lucky I am to have met and worked with some of the most amazing wedding suppliers in the business.
One of the nicest people I have had the chance to work with and I am lucky enough now to call him a close friend is Juan Muino who is a photographer based in Cambridge.
Picture
Whenever I attend a wedding fayre, I hope and hope my stand is near Juan's, I love to watch him interact with customers, his easy manner and gentle approach puts people at ease, and it is very easy to see why so many people want him to be the photographer at their wedding.
Picture
I love it when I get a call from a client and they tell me they have booked Juan, I know a great wedding is now going to be an amazing wedding.
Picture
Juan is also one of a small group of suppliers who meet on a semi regular basis, to chat and discuss ideas, I can honestly say I have learnt, and continue to learn, so much from him, my business is now a bigger and better one because of the help he offers.
Picture
Everyone has a camera on their phone, and everyone thinks they can take a picture.  whilst this may be true,
Juan has the ability to capture a moment, to turn a single missable second into a memory that lasts a lifetime.

Picture
It is also a happy coincidence that Juan has a daughter the same age as my daughter, and they do adore each other.  I have to thank Juan for his help, his guidance and his friendship, and for having a little girl who makes my little girl laugh very loudly
Picture
One of the most important things I have learnt from Juan is about how to write a good blog, and I get lots of lovely messages from people who read, and are reading this, about the content etc.  So I think it only right I point you towards Juans blog, which is not only great for people planning a wedding, but also it is a great read and full of amazing stories, advice and a glimpse through the eyes of a true photographic artiste. (please like and share so your friends can enjoy too).

Juan Blog.
You can also read a really lovely blog post about your's truly as well by clicking this link here.

Okay Juan did not name it that, I did but the link is real and a lovely read too.
Thanks Juan.

Wedding Supplier review: Mike Savory Wedding Videographer

12/2/2018

How do you know that the person you have booked is as good as they claim to be?

How do you know the supplier is up to the job?  Well in my case you can check my reviews, and check out the photos, the reactions and the comments from many many happy couples.

Nothing tells the story like a good photograph, well nothing except maybe a great video.
Picture
Picture
Every so often I get to meet someone who is as passionate about what they do, as I am about what I do.

I was recently at a wedding and was fortunate enough to work with, and chat to Mike Savory.  Mike is a videographer and was filming the wedding I was performing at.  Mike has the ability to move around the room, between the guests and get up close and personal whilst not being intrusive.  He has a mild and calm manner that allows his to blend in yet capture the moments that really stand out.
Picture
Every couple, every wedding is different and unique, and a wedding video is a doorway into viewing and remembering the magic of your special day.
Picture
I was at a table and Mike filmed me performing a fork bending effect.

I have to admit I do not even remember seeing him film me, yet he got really close, but did not get so close he obstructed me from doing my job.
This meant a lot to me watching it afterwards and apart from showing me how much of a video ninja he is, it also displayed Mikes professionalism and skill and shows why he is one of the best at what he does.
Check out this short video of me filmed by the amazing Mike Savory.
I honestly get goosebumps every time I watch it, and that is why (with Mikes very kind permission) it is now all over my website and advertising.
Mike brings fun and character to any event and his ability to capture the smallest moments in the biggest way means you get a keepsake that you will make you smile, cry and laugh for many years after the day it was filmed.  Which is exactly what you wanted.
Picture
Picture
Award winning wedding supplier and although I can not say he is any good at card tricks, (he may be) he truly is a wizard with a camera.
Please check out more of Mikes amazing work here.

In 2015 Wayne took 2nd place in the British National Close Up Magic Championships in Blackpool.

Magicians are an excellent way to enhance your wedding day, Wayne will advise you on the best choice of options for your day.

DURING THE PHOTOGRAPHS
The most popular time for Wayne is during the photographs and drinks reception.  Wayne will work and charm the crowd with his astounding sleight of hand, mixed with his clean humour so that the crowd is left speechless and amazed.

Wayne will break the ice so people and groups who do not know each other are brought together, this in turn builds atmosphere and cements the foundation of the day.

THE WEDDING BREAKFAST
Wayne is a first class multi award winning close up magician.  Once everyone is seated (including yourselves) Wayne will move around the room creating a fun atmosphere, that will keep your guests entertained between courses and more importantly break the ice at the tables.

Every couple worries about the seating plan, and trying to get people to sit with others they know, but after Wayne has left the table, every guest at the table will have something to discuss, regardless of whether they knew each other at the start of the day.
Picture

THE EVENING BIT
Once the evening guests start arriving Wayne can work the room and mix with the new arrivals to build the atmosphere until the Band / DJ starts playing.  Having guests arrive into a room of people who have spent all day together can mean a slow start to the evening bit, Wayne will enhance the atmosphere and get people in the party mode.

A Brilliant Eye ...

I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing photographers over the years.

In 2017 I was invited to do the wedding of Nick and Jess (in the picture above) and met up with a great guy call Peter Denness who was the wedding photographer on the day.

Peter followed me around a few tables and seemed to know exactly where the best place to stand was to catch the perfect picture.
Picture
After the wedding Peter kindly send me some pictures and to say they capture the moment perfectly would be an understatement.
To check out more images of Peter at work or to book him for your wedding then please click the link button below.
Here are a small selection of pictures from the wedding day.

Each one perfectly captures the feeling of the day.

Tis the season to ... plan your wedding

17/11/2017

Congratulations if you are one of the many newly engaged couples now looking at planning the most important day you will ever have.

Planning a wedding is no easy task, but it can be made easier by looking for advice from experts and the best place to speak to them is at a wedding fayre.

I will be attending a few fayres in the upcoming weeks, so if your planning a wedding come and say hello and see what I can do to enhance your day and add an extra level of magic.

In the meantime, here are some tips for attending a wedding fayre.

  • Make a list of what you want for your wedding - cake, dress, photographer etc and then make a list of questions you need to ask each supplier.
  • Do not rush around and miss something, take your time and speak to the people you want to speak to.  The suppliers are there to talk to you and will have the answers to your questions.
  • Take friends or family with you, idealy your partner but if they are unavailable then best friends or your parents are equally as good.  Taking them along will ensure you stay focused on what you are looking for and will also provide an alternative opinion on many aspects of what is on offer.
  • Take a break.  Most fayres have a cafe or a quiet chill out area, so use it, sit down and look at what you have seen, the options, do not make brash on the spot decisions but think about what you want and if it will fit with your day.

Picture
Picture
  • Once you have thought about who you like and what you want for your day then collect business cards from the suppliers you like, so that you can arrange to meet them for a chat or consultation.
  • Ask if the supplier is offering a discount for bookings made that day, often you will save yourself some money.
  • Save the date, if the supplier you like is available for your wedding then ask them to save the date and contact them that evening to confirm booking.
  • Have fun, your wedding day is a special day but planning it should also be fun, enjoy it all.
January 21st I will be attending the Newmarket Wedding Show at the Newmarket Racecourse so come along and say hello, see some magic and have a chat.

Don't take my word for it.

One of the perks of my job is that I get a constant stream of feedback from customers.

This can take the form of a lovely letter, thank you note or email after the event, but it also includes immediate feedback after the magic when you get the stunned looks, shrieks and screams, high fives and hugs and pats on the back.

When you are looking for a magician for your next event make sure you book someone who will create memories, build atmosphere, break the ice and leave everyone astounded, rather than some one who will just do a few tricks.

Magic is a very personal experience, and if done properly it is one that people will remember and talk about for years to come.

Here are 6 simple tips to make sure your guests remember your next big event of function.
  • Do not underestimate the importance of good entertainment.  A professional entertainer (Magician, DJ, Band etc) will relieve stress and enable you to enjoy the event as much as your guests.
  • Make it personal, Greet your guests at the door and introduce them to at least one other party member they do not know.
  • Facebook is your friend.  Create a facebook event and add all your guests to it.  This is an easier way to communicate and organise your guests and helpers.
  • Plan ahead.  Make a plan and stick to it.  Organisation for yourself and your helpers will reduce stress and help you enjoy the party more.
  • Stick to simple food.  Everyone likes to try something new, but they do not want to spend the whole night guessing if they will like your version of Escamol (a Mexican dish).  Keep it simple and varied and everyone will enjoy it all.
  • Remember to have fun.

Talk to Wayne to see how he can make your next event the best it can be.

As we head to the end of this years wedding season, I would like to thank all the brides and grooms who have entrusted me with making sure their guests had the best time, made some incredible memories and saw some amazing magic.

Now though Christmas is on the way, and approaching fast.
Have you thought about your Christmas party entertainment yet?

Christmas is such a magical time so why not add some magic to your event and contact me now wayne@waynegoodman.co.uk

Christmas is a time for friends and family to get together, but remember those people who are on their own or older relatives who may not get a visitor this Christmas.  A small visit or invite to have a drink can mean the difference between loneliness and happiness.

By making a little effort and spreading a little love we can change the world.

For your entertainment and my embarrassment I have added some photos below of me at christmas over the years, some in this country, some in others.  Enjoy.
2018 is filling up fast so if you are planning a wedding or event make sure you check out my website www.waynegoodman.co.uk

So I have been asked when the next blog post is coming, and it has been a while since I have posted mainly because of rebuilding our lives after the fire.

This summer has been a scorcher both weather and work wise.  I have been to many parties, weddings and functions over the last few months and have travelled up and down the country from Northumberland to Bournemouth, Bristol to Sunderland (not all at the same time).

Below are some photo from this summer ...

The worst weekend of my life

13/4/2017

5.37pm on Sunday 9th April 2017 is a day that will long remain in my memory as one of the worst days of my life.

That was the time and date I had to call 999 and tell them that my block of flats was on fire.

Picture
In a very short time we had been joined by the Police and 8 Fire Engines who fought for 5 hours to bring the fire under control.

The fire was in the cavity space between the walls and spread through the whole block and next door.

The fireman had to remove the walls in my flat to get to the fire, as you can see in the pictures below the damage was extensive and I can only praise the fireman for their quick thinking.
Picture
I was able to get myself, my daughter and warn everyone in the block to get out of the flats and we all know how lucky we all are that no one was hurt.

I would like to thank all the police, fireman and fire investigation officers and forest heath and kings forest for their help, compassion and understanding (we have all been asking lots of questions) in getting us answers, rehousing us and allowing us to (safely) enter and remove essentials etc.

I would also like to thank everyone who has offered assistance and help, money and replacements I really cannot thank you enough.

Now starts the process of rebuilding our lives and homes and making a positive step in the right direction.
